Thesis Statement
Problem
In today’s world educational environments impact the human body and provokes negative behaviors. In education, statistics show that high schools in San Diego have the highest percentages of students making the choice to drop out. The common problem with high school students is the lack of interest, it limits their ability to obtain a high school diploma and to transition to a professional career.
Research
While conducting research in the book, “Engaged schools: Fostering High School Students’ Motivation to Learn” Urie states, that studies have found that 40-60% of high school students are chronically disengaged, exert little effort.

Architectural spaces affect the physical environment and activities for students. Some of these spaces are found to be unappealing bare walls, the colors uninviting and windows are small and narrow. Student's visual focus and attention change due to interior spaces and distractions.

In study models, it was tested that inter-connectivity is the solution for spaces to work by creating appealing environments with lighting solutions.
Design Intent
The proposed design develops new environments that provide interconnectivity within students. These architecture spaces increase engagement between one another. Engagement produces initiative for activities, these activities motivate students to connect and attain interest.

Additionally, the design provides joint use spaces as a form of community integration. The communal and educational spaces are meant to be dynamic, open and welcoming; it effectively fits the educational program.
